The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
has once again widened Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2015 general elections with registration of two new political parties.
This comes on the heels of the recent registration of
the All Progressives Congress (APC)
The new parties are: Peoples Democratic Movement
(PDM) which belongs to the associates of the former vice president Atiku Abubakar and the Independent Democrats (ID).
A statement signed by the Secretary to the Commission,
Mrs. A. C. Ogakwu stated that Constitution, Manifesto, Logo/Flag and list of National Executive Officers of each of the party have also been approved by the Commission.
Recall that Vice President Atiku has said he is not
dumping the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which will likely fixture president Goodluck Jonathan as its flagbearer for 2015 election.
But many believe that the newly registered PDM will
serve as a fallback platform for Alhaji Atiku to contest the 2015 presidential
